The Turkish Reinsurance Company recently honored Selva Eren with the prestigious North Star Award, recognizing her visionary leadership and innovative contributions to public administration in the insurance sector. Celebrating its fifth anniversary in September, Turkish Reinsurance aims to retain Turkey’s reinsurance capabilities to foster sustainable growth. Under Eren’s leadership, the company has established itself as a reliable exporter of insurance solutions, extending its reach to 57 countries across five continents.
In 2020, Turkish Reinsurance took over the technical operation of the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (DASK), becoming a fundamental pillar of the insurance landscape. Enhancements to DASK’s reserves and reinsurance capacity now allow for potential compensation payments of 355 billion TL for two significant earthquakes.
Following the devastating earthquakes on February 6, Turkish Reinsurance’s robust preparations enabled DASK to initiate post-disaster operations swiftly, with the first compensation payment processed within 24 hours. The innovative advance payment system accelerated the disbursement process, resulting in approximately 40 billion TL in compensation distributed within six months.
The Insurance Producers Association remains committed to acknowledging Selva Eren’s impactful leadership and the value she brings to the industry, affirming her status as a true North Star of the sector.
