TSB General Secretary Özgür Obalı represented the organization at the Insurance Europe General Assembly and the 14th International Conference. During the event, he engaged in discussions with newly elected Insurance Europe President Frédéric de Courtois, Secretary General Michaela Koller, and Deputy Olav Jones regarding global trends influencing the insurance sector.
Key topics included the complex regulatory environment ahead of the upcoming European Union elections and its adverse effects on the insurance industry. The discourse emphasized the importance of digitalization and data as vital inputs for the sector, underscoring the necessity for regulations to balance personal data security with providing insurance products tailored to policyholders’ needs.
It was highlighted that improving access to insurance, promoting equity, and particularly enhancing financial and insurance education for young people are critical for addressing protection gaps. Additionally, the insurance sector’s role in mitigating the impacts of climate change and related disasters was deemed essential and should be more visibly acknowledged.
