A briefing on agricultural insurance and a symbolic damage compensation check ceremony took place on December 19th in Biga, Çanakkale.
The event featured participation via video call from Dr. Osman YILDIZ, Director General of Agricultural Reform at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Chairman of the TARSİM Board. Attendees included Kamil ÖZDEMİR, the Department Head of Agricultural Insurance and Natural Disasters at the Ministry, Bekir ENGÜRÜLÜ, General Manager of the Agricultural Insurance Pool, and local officials such as Ercan KAYABAŞI, the district governor, and Nazan TÜRKARSLAN, the provincial agriculture and forestry director. Numerous producers, agriculture and forestry department officials, and representatives from agricultural cooperatives and TARSİM also attended.
In his remarks, Dr. YILDIZ emphasized the crucial role of farmers in feeding the country’s 86 million population and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting them. He highlighted the increasing frequency of natural disasters due to climate change, stressing the necessity of agricultural insurance for producers. Dr. YILDIZ also announced upcoming innovations in the State-Supported Agricultural Insurance System, set to be implemented by 2025, emphasizing that all efforts aim to ensure the continuity of agricultural activities.
