Osmaniye Peanut has become the 22nd product in Turkey to receive geographical indication registration from the European Union. This recognition is a significant achievement for the Osmaniye region and the country as a whole. The Chairman of the Osmaniye Commodity Exchange, Sait Cenat, along with the board and all contributors to this success, are to be commended for their dedication to protecting local values.
Turkey boasts a unique and diverse product range, which is a rare asset on a global scale. The Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and the chamber-bourse community are committed to intensifying efforts to promote local and geographically indicated products.
Ongoing efforts are in place for 53 geographical indications and 5 traditional product names as part of the EU registration process.
