The CRESTA Industry Loss Index (CLIX) has released its Q2 2024 update, highlighting billion-dollar losses from global catastrophes excluding the US. The update includes data on 21 catastrophic events from the last three years, with revised or finalised loss figures for 10 of these events. Notable revisions include the severe convective storms in Northern Italy in July 2023, which now estimate losses at US$5.7 billion. The update also adds three new events from Q2 2024, including mid-April flash floods in Dubai, a hailstorm in Japan’s Hyogo prefecture, and early June floods in Southern Germany.
