In 2023, Egypt’s microinsurance sector generated total premiums of EGP 377 million (approximately US$7.7 million) and paid out claims worth EGP 193 million, according to the Financial Regulatory Authority. Insurance expert Ahmed Ibrahim highlighted that microinsurance provides affordable coverage for life, health, property, and accidents, but faces challenges including low awareness and limited access in remote areas.
