Former Barclays CEO Jes Staley has been accused of misleading Britain’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regarding his connections with Jeffrey Epstein during an investigation into his relationship with the financier. The FCA intends to impose a ban on Staley from holding senior roles and has proposed a fine of £1.8 million (approximately $2.27 million). Staley is appealing the decision, with a hearing scheduled for March 2025. The FCA claims that Staley provided misleading statements about his last contact with Epstein in a letter to the watchdog in 2019, which he is reported to have “recklessly approved.”
