The General Insurance Association of Japan (GIAJ) has established a project team to promote fundamental business reform, focusing on the relationship between member companies and agents, as well as reviewing business practices to create a competitive environment. The team’s efforts come in response to price-fixing practices and fraudulent insurance claims that damaged public trust in the non-life sector. GIAJ Chairman Keisuke Niiro emphasized the need for the industry to “reborn” and incorporate external perspectives to prevent a recurrence of these malpractices. The project team will continue to follow up with member companies on their efforts to prevent a recurrence of these issues.
