A Microsoft report indicates that an Iranian hacker group, known as Cotton Sandstorm, is targeting U.S. election websites and media outlets as election day approaches. This group, linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has conducted reconnaissance and probing activities on multiple election-related sites in key swing states. Microsoft anticipates an increase in the group’s operations similar to their previous cyber activities during the 2020 election cycle. In response, an Iranian spokesperson dismissed the allegations, stating that Iran has no intention of interfering in the U.S. election.
