North Carolina Insurance Agent Charged with Embezzling Premiums

Latest News

Lori Ann Crisp, a 56-year-old insurance agent from Kannapolis, North Carolina, has surrendered her producer license following charges of forgery, embezzlement, and obtaining property under false pretenses. The North Carolina Department of Insurance alleges that Crisp collected nearly $3,000 in premiums for homeowner’s and automobile insurance policies but failed to secure them between late 2023 and 2024. This is not Crisp’s first encounter with regulatory issues, as she previously surrendered an auto insurance agent license in 2002 and reached a settlement with the Department of Insurance in 2006 regarding unpaid claims. The investigation into her actions is ongoing, and the Insurance Commissioner emphasized that such white-collar crimes ultimately impact all consumers through increased premiums.
