A new organization aimed at strengthening the insurance sector has been established, named the Insurance Agents Union, following a gathering of local agents who seek to create a more corporate framework for their profession. This assembly took place during the General Assembly meeting held under the auspices of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce (KTEZO).
Sermet Benli was elected as the inaugural president of the union. During the meeting, pivotal resolutions were made concerning the future of the profession, emphasizing the protection of agents’ rights, the promotion of industry standards in line with global practices, and the advancement of knowledge among agents to elevate the sector.
Union representatives highlighted the necessity for a unified voice among agents, aiming for healthier and more reputable relationships with affiliated institutions and organizations. They underscored the commitment to enacting significant initiatives for the sector’s future.
The meeting also pointed out the importance of establishing a more robust representation for agents on an international scale. With the formation of the Insurance Agents Union, participants expressed their intent to work collaboratively towards securing the industry’s future while marking the beginning of a new era characterized by enhanced representation for agents.
The newly established management board comprises Sermet Benli, Artunç Gürkut, Aydın İnce, Ayşe Kaya, Oğuz Akançay, Çağdaş Uçaner, Canan Eraslan, Ertuğ Erçin, Cemile Rana Ünver, and Nurcan Demiray.
