The establishment of an Independent Turkish Insurance Agents Professional Chambers and Federation is deemed crucial for a robust Turkish economy and insurance sector. It emphasizes the need for strong insurance companies and distinguished agents to foster a unified structure that represents regional issues effectively across Turkey. With approximately 18,000 insurance agencies and a staggering 290,000 SEGEM certificates, the current scenario has led to market saturation and inflational pressures due to increased non-professional entries into the sector.
To combat these challenges, a systematic approach is proposed, whereby the SEGEM certification process would include professional standards set by industry associations, necessitating training, internships, and examinations to ensure a qualified workforce. This cohesive strategy aims to promote order and discipline within the sector while fostering a conducive environment for industry growth and professional integrity in insurance practices.
