The Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security has announced significant updates regarding occupational health and safety (OHS) training for employers. Under Article 38 of the OHS Law, it has been established that public institutions, as well as businesses with fewer than 50 employees classified as low-risk, will be required to have OHS professionals by December 31, 2024.
According to the “Regulation on Occupational Health and Safety Services to be Conducted by Employers or Their Representatives,” employers in these small enterprises can provide their own OHS services provided they complete a 16-hour training course approved by the Ministry. This training will be delivered through remote education by the Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Eğitim ve Araştırma Merkezi (CASGEM).
Employers interested in self-providing OHS services can register for the training through the provided online application. Notifications regarding training schedules will be sent to those who complete their registrations once the sessions commence.
Prof. Dr. Elif Gökçearslan, the Deputy President of CASGEM, emphasized the importance of these educational initiatives for enhancing workplace safety standards.
