The Zurich Insurance Group and Marsh & McLennan, in collaboration with TÜSİAD, hosted the launch conference for the Global Risks Report, timed with the World Economic Forum in Davos. The event, held at the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus, attracted prominent figures from the business community.
Opening remarks were delivered by Zurich Insurance Group Turkey CEO Yılmaz Yıldız and Marsh Turkey Chairman Tayfun Bayazıt. The conference highlighted technological, economic, and environmental risks facing both the world and Turkey, with discussions centered on regional balances in economic and political contexts, inequalities in resource allocation leading to conflict risks, ecological challenges, upcoming elections in various countries—including the U.S.—and the threats posed by AI-driven misinformation.
Yılmaz Yıldız emphasized the need for global solutions to tackle international issues in a multipolar world. He addressed tensions arising from climate crisis measures between developed and developing nations, resource hurdles to achieving green transitions, the impact of biodiversity loss on nature and food supply, and the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence.
In addition to Yıldız and Bayazıt, notable contributions included TÜSİAD Board Chairman Orhan Turan’s presentation on “Turkish Business Risks,” comments by Nilufer Sezgin from İş Portföy on “Global Risks and Their Implications for Turkey,” and insights from academic Prof. Dr. Levent Kurnaz and Burak Ertaş, CEO of sahibinden.com. The report’s presentation was also supported by Richard Smith Bingham from Marsh McLennan and Scott Toland from the Zurich Insurance Group.
The conference successfully underscored the pressing global risks and the necessity for effective collaboration in addressing them.
