Eastern and Southeastern Committees Platform Meets in Şanlıurfa

The Eastern and Southeastern (Regional) Professional Committees Platform Meeting was held in October 2025, hosted by the Şanlıurfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ŞUTSO). The meeting was held under the chamber's 28th Professional Group in the insurance field.

The meeting was attended by SEDDK (Türkiye's insurance and pension regulator) Vice Chair Emine Feray Sezgin, TÜSAF (Türkiye's federation of insurance agencies' associations) Chair Adnan Çelik, TOBB SAİK (TOBB's insurance agencies executive committee) Chair Levent Korkut, SBM (Türkiye's insurance information and monitoring centre) Board Member Salih Taşyon, TARSİM (Türkiye's state-backed agricultural insurance pool) Regional Manager Yusuf Üstün, and DASK (Türkiye's compulsory earthquake insurance scheme) Gaziantep Representative Gamze Polat. Regional professional committees platform meetings bring the insurance professional committees within chambers together at the same table with representatives of top institutions.

Meeting agenda

Local media reported that the meeting addressed strengthening quality standards, service efficiency, strengthening agency structures, customer satisfaction and a shared quality awareness.

The meeting also discussed six concrete items: the need for legal regulation of VAT practice among agencies, preventing unauthorised policy issuance and increasing inspections, strengthening criminal sanctions against unlicensed agency activity, ensuring price equality and fair competition in digital sales channels, a request for regulation of promotions and gift vouchers, and legal protection for portfolio ownership rights.

What do platform meetings do?

The professional representation of insurance agencies is carried out through the Insurance Agencies Executive Committee, which operates within TOBB (Türkiye's union of chambers and commodity exchanges) under Insurance Law No. 5684, and through chambers' insurance professional committees. Regional platform meetings are one of the channels through which the shared problems of neighbouring provinces' committees can be conveyed directly to representatives of the regulatory and supervisory institutions.
