New Regulations Set to Expand Health Insurance Coverage

Davut Menteş, Chair of SEDDK, made important statements on private health insurance and vehicle insurance depreciation on the BAKIŞ programme broadcast on NTV. Menteş said that, from 1 January 2026, a lifetime renewal guarantee will be offered to insured people under the age of 60. This new regulation was stated to have been introduced to ensure uniform application in the health insurance sector.
Davut Menteş said: "With the new period, we have now set the rules for the sector. This reform, being citizen-focused, will increase individuals' trust as well as ensure the sector's long-term sustainability. According to our impact analyses, this regulation will be beneficial for our citizens." Menteş noted that the total number of health-insured people in Türkiye has not exceeded 8.5 million, and said this new regulation is expected to increase the number of insured people.
