TSB Discusses Insurance and AI at DATUM Summit in Ankara
TSB took part in the DATUM Big Data & BI Summit in Ankara on 11-12 October 2025, presenting data literacy, careers and insurance's ties to AI.

TSB (Türkiye's insurance and pension industry association) took part in the DATUM Big Data & BI Summit organised by Ankara University's Statistics Club on 11-12 October 2025. The summit, held at the Ankara headquarters of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), brought together academia, the public sector and business under one roof.
First day: booth meetings
On the first day of the summit, students and participants were informed at the TSB booth about the social impact of insurance, data literacy and career opportunities in the sector. The association kept the booth running throughout the event so that young talent could get to know insurance as a career field.
Second day: sessions on insurance, AI and big data
On the second day of the event, figures from the sector's data-focused institutions took the stage. TSB Transformation, Project Management, IT and CEO Office Coordinator Deniz Selkan Kanmaz and Data Analytics Department Manager Serkan Dolu, together with SBM Manager Serkan Avcı and EGM Deputy General Manager Ahmet Bozdağı, shared their views on the relationship between insurance and artificial intelligence and big data.
In the post, thanks were extended to TÜİK for hosting the event, to Ankara University's Statistics Club for organising it, and to all interested participants.
Why does data matter so much in insurance?
Insurance is a sector in which every step, from pricing to claims management, rests on statistics and data analysis. In Türkiye, most policy and claims data is collected at SBM, and private pension data at EGM, placing the two institutions at the centre of the sector's data infrastructure. As AI applications spread, the need for young graduates with data literacy is also growing. TSB's visibility at university events stands out as a promotional effort geared to this need.
The summit concluded as a gathering that drew attention to the insurance sector's digital transformation and the importance of a data-driven approach.
