Türk Dünyası Sigorta Birliği Formally Established in Şuşa

Türk Dünyası Sigorta Birliği formally began operating following its first General Assembly meeting held in Şuşa, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, on 14 September 2025, after its foundations were laid at the International Insurance Summit held in Istanbul in May 2022. Türkiye Sigorta Birliği (TSB — Türkiye's insurance and pension industry association) was represented at the meeting by Chair Uğur Gülen, Vice Chair Ahmet Yaşar and Secretary General Özgür Obalı, and the meeting was also attended by Atilla Benli, who made significant contributions to the development of the Türk Dünyası Sigorta Birliği project.

A panel featuring the heads of member countries' insurance regulatory bodies was held at the meeting. Speaking on the panel, SEDDK Chair Davut Menteş referred to the leading role of Türkiye's insurance sector in the region, saying: "With shared goals and a spirit of cooperation, we fully believe that we will build a stronger, more transparent and sustainable insurance and pension ecosystem in the Turkic world. Türk Dünyası Sigorta Birliği is a historic opportunity for all of us in this respect."

Set up with the aim of increasing cooperation in the global insurance sector, Türk Dünyası Sigorta Birliği is expected to encourage the sharing of experience and knowledge among member countries. Viewed as an important step toward aligning with international standards in the insurance sector, the body also aims to increase the international visibility of Türkiye's insurance sector.
