Allstate Corp. announced that it expects pretax catastrophe losses of $889 million for September, with $630 million resulting from Hurricane Helene. The company reported total pretax catastrophe losses for the third quarter at $1.7 billion, bringing the year’s total to over $4.5 billion. Additionally, Allstate disclosed unfavorable reserve developments of $58 million pretax during its annual property-liability reserve review. The insurer also noted that recent auto insurance rate increases in several locations contributed to a premium impact of 2.9% in the third quarter.
