California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara has implemented a one-year moratorium on insurance cancellations for over 185,000 residents affected by the Park, Borel, and Gold Complex fires. This order, which protects policyholders in specific ZIP Code areas, prevents non-renewal or cancellation of their insurance regardless of loss incurred during the incidents. The Park Fire, now the fourth largest wildfire in California’s history at 427,067 acres burned, has triggered the emergency declaration from Governor Gavin Newsom. To date, approximately 4,946 wildfires have affected 805,096 acres this year across California.
