A Colorado man has initiated a lawsuit against McDonald’s following an E. coli outbreak linked to its Quarter Pounder burgers, which has resulted in one death and nearly 50 illnesses. The suit, filed in Cook County, Illinois, claims that the plaintiff, Eric Stelly, consumed food from a McDonald’s in Greeley on October 4 and later tested positive for E. coli. Stelly’s legal team alleges negligence on the part of McDonald’s in handling food safety, seeking over $50,000 in damages. The CDC is currently investigating the outbreak while McDonald’s has removed the affected item from a significant number of its restaurants in an effort to regain public trust.
