Jordan’s Medical Association (JMA) has announced a 20% increase in doctors’ fees, the first hike in 16 years, following negotiations with insurance companies. The new fee schedule, which takes into account economic conditions, will be implemented in three tranches over three years. The agreement was reached under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Central Bank, and covers fees for general practitioners and medical specialists. The move is expected to benefit the country’s 5,000 private-sector doctors who have been seeking a fee increase for years.
