Moroccan insurance intermediaries are urging authorities to postpone the implementation of the Compulsory Health Insurance scheme (AMO) until 2029, citing concerns over the impact on their businesses. The National Federation of Agents and Brokers of Morocco (FNACAM) has presented a wishlist to the authorities, including requests to digitalize the operational system of the AMO and allow intermediaries to offer new services to offset potential losses. The government has already merged the AMO with the Medical Aid Regime (RAMED) to create a universal healthcare programme, but intermediaries are seeking more time to adapt to the changes. The move is part of the government’s efforts to expand access to health insurance for citizens.
