Wisconsin Man Charged with Crop Insurance Fraud Using Fake Bank Statement

Lance G. Meier, a 52-year-old man from Ogema, Wisconsin, has been charged with fraud related to the Federal Crop Insurance Program, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin. The indictment claims that Meier submitted a fabricated Wells Fargo bank statement to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to reinstate his insurance on September 30, 2019. If found guilty, he could face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. The case emerged from an investigation by the United States Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General.
