On March 5, a tornado struck the districts of Kumluca and Demre in Antalya, leading to significant damage in greenhouses and their agricultural products. Following a swift assessment process, insurance claims from affected producers were evaluated, and on March 14, a total of 39 million Turkish Lira was disbursed to the insured greenhouse operators.
The tornado caused extensive damage to greenhouse coverings—both glass and plastic—as well as structural components and the crops inside. The evaluation was conducted by assigned experts who completed the damage assessments rapidly, allowing for prompt financial assistance within a week of the disaster.
The authorities extend their condolences to the farmers impacted by the disaster and stress the importance of agricultural insurance to mitigate risks in such unforeseen events.
