On February 27, 2023, a significant meeting was held in Ankara, bringing together representatives from the Turkish seed industry and officials from TARSİM (Agricultural Insurance Pool). The gathering was organized by Seyfettin GÜN, the Head of the Agricultural Insurance and Natural Disasters Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, alongside Bekir ENGÜRÜLÜ, a TARSİM Board Member and General Manager of the Agricultural Insurance Pool.
Notable attendees included Hacı Ömer GÜLER, President of the Turkish Seed Producers Association (TÜRKTOB); Yıldıray GENÇER, President of the Seed Industrialists and Producers Sub-Union (TSÜAB); and other leaders from various agricultural unions. The discussions centered on the risks facing seed production and the necessary precautionary measures. Additionally, updates were shared regarding the state-supported agricultural insurance system, its implementation, and ongoing regional efforts aimed at increasing producer satisfaction.
The TARSİM delegation also participated in the 19th National Agriculture and Food Congress, hosted by the Turkish Farmers Association, which focused on sustainability in agriculture and food. The congress highlighted issues such as forest fires, climate change, ecosystem degradation, and biodiversity loss. The opening remarks were provided by Hüseyin DEMİRTAŞ, President of the Turkish Farmers Association, with Bekir ENGÜRÜLÜ contributing insights on “The Future of Participation in Agriculture” and elaborating on the agricultural insurance system and its applications.
