On December 12, a significant informational meeting on agricultural insurance was held in Mersin, hosted by the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Insurance Profession Committee. The event featured key figures from TARSİM, including Kamil Özdemir, Head of the Agricultural Insurance and Natural Disasters Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and TARSİM Board Member, as well as Bekir Engürülü, General Manager of the Agricultural Insurance Pool Operations.
During the meeting, attended by insurance committee members, agents, regional directors, and students from various local universities and vocational schools, Özdemir provided insights into the establishment and evolution of TARSİM, emphasizing the importance of government support for the agricultural insurance system. Engürülü highlighted the urgent need for sustainable agricultural production amid changing climate conditions and increasing natural disasters, stressing the necessity of securing agricultural efforts through insurance. He shared data specific to Mersin, informed participants about TARSİM’s practices, and addressed inquiries from producers and farmers regarding agricultural insurance.
