Osman Çelik, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance of Turkey, delivered the third opening speech at the 3rd International Insurance Summit, where he highlighted significant aspects of the medium-term economic plan. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to achieving price stability as a cornerstone for sustainable economic growth, Çelik noted that the global landscape is undergoing critical transformations, underscoring the necessity of being prepared for these changes.
He pointed out that big data and its analysis present substantial opportunities for the insurance sector. Çelik also discussed the role of the insurance industry in enhancing corporate sustainability through cybersecurity products, and the protective measures necessary to address the risks posed by climate change. Additionally, he mentioned that demographic shifts are likely to create new product requirements in retirement, caregiving, and private health insurance.
Moreover, Çelik stressed the importance of increasing public awareness of risks and enhancing insurance literacy among citizens. He called for collaboration among all stakeholders in the sector to foster greater societal understanding of insurance issues.
