The Ege Insurance Agents Association (E.S.A.D) held its third board meeting, focusing on critical issues impacting the insurance sector and regional developments. The session featured insights from Fatih Güneş, Regional Manager of Sompo Insurance, who emphasized the importance of risk management and efforts to enhance policyholder awareness within the insurance landscape.
In the latter part of the meeting, Perihan Öztürk, General Manager of the Ege Forest Foundation, highlighted significant environmental concerns, reporting that since Thursday, the country has experienced 247 fires, including 109 forest fires and 138 rural blazes. She expressed particular concern for the threats these fires pose to residential areas in İzmir and the resulting fatalities among local wildlife. Öztürk warned of ongoing high-risk conditions for forest fires, urging caution in fire-sensitive regions and stressing the importance of minimizing human-forest interactions based on recent decisions from local authorities.
Furthermore, Öztürk noted that these devastating fires could lead to increased compensation claims from insurance companies, particularly affecting home, business, agriculture, and business continuity insurance sectors.
The board also made key decisions aimed at advancing the insurance industry and reinforcing the sector in İzmir. Plans for the E.S.A.D Academy were unveiled, alongside training scheduled for October 26 in preparation for the SEGEM exam on November 2.
