Fannie Mae has successfully completed its seventh Credit Insurance Risk Transfer transaction of 2024, involving 26 re/insurers and transferring $338.6 million in mortgage credit risk. This transaction applies to a pool of approximately 23,500 single-family mortgage loans, totaling around $7.9 billion in unpaid principal balance. The new structure allows for faster coverage release based on loan performance and ties the insurance premium obligation to the remaining coverage amount. Since the program’s inception, Fannie Mae has secured nearly $28.1 billion in insurance for $935 billion in single-family loans.
