The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has concluded its preliminary investigation into 7,745 Fisker Ocean SUVs, which faced issues with shifting into park gear, potentially leading to unexpected vehicle movement. Earlier this year, the NHTSA initiated the probe following complaints related to the vehicles’ inability to transition into the correct gear. Fisker has since issued a recall for the affected SUVs and released a software update, “OS 2.0,” which includes a new “Auto Vehicle Hold” feature designed to prevent unintentional rollaways by ensuring the proper engagement of both park gear and the electronic parking brake. As a result, the NHTSA determined that the software update adequately addressed the safety concerns.
