The World Bank, in collaboration with the Insurance Development Forum and academic stakeholders, conducted the “Disaster Risk Finance Academy: Affordable Disaster Risk Insurance through Public-Private Partnerships” training program this year in Turkey.
The program focused on developing effective public-private partnership (PPP) models for disaster risk financing, showcasing successful implementations from various countries. Key topics included the essential components of insurance markets and risk financing mechanisms tailored to local needs.
The initiative aims to accelerate the development of disaster insurance markets and enhance the financial resilience of nations. The Natural Disaster Insurance Institution (DASK) participated in the program, with Secretary General Serpil Günal sharing insights on DASK’s operations and experiences as one of the most successful examples of public-private cooperation. Additionally, Erdem Karabostan, General Manager of T-Rupt, provided an overview of the CatMod Modeling Platform, highlighting its financial contributions to the sector.
