Grindr Inc. has been accused by the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) of unlawfully implementing a return-to-office (RTO) policy that led to the resignation of approximately half of its workforce to hinder a unionization effort. The NLRB claims the dating app imposed this strict mandate in retaliation against employees organizing for union representation. Following the announcement of a union campaign in July 2023, Grindr required employees to work in-office two days a week, disproportionately impacting transgender workers who faced difficulties accessing healthcare providers. Grindr denies the allegations, asserting that employee resignations occurred only after the RTO transition was underway.
